Tests & Results

TESTS ORGANISED BY HOSPITAL DOCTORS
We do not get results of tests requested by hospital doctors.  These are sent straight to the hospital and you should contact the secretary of the consultant/ specialist you are under.
Results from these tests are usually available at your next hospital appointment.

Blood Tests

We are unable to take bloods not requested by your doctor or nurse. If you are experiencing symptoms which you feel require a blood test, please contact Reception to book an appointment with a clinician. Our Reception Team cannot print/generate a blood form unless it has been requested by a Clinician.

Urgent Blood Tests

For urgent blood requests by one of our clinicians, we offer an in house phlebotomy service. Please speak to our reception team to book in.

Routine Blood Tests

For routine blood tests, please use the Health Board Phlebotomy Service. To book an appointment with the Health Board, you can do so by calling 03000 850047 or by visiting the following website 'Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board Phlebotomy Service'.

Alternatively, Denbigh Infirmary offer a phlebotomy service and can be contacted on 03000 850 019.

You MUST collect your blood form from the practice. If you do not have your blood form on the day of your appointment, you will be asked to re-schedule your appointment. The Health Board cannot generate or re-print blood forms.

Urine, Stool and Swab Samples

All samples that require lab testing must be returned to the surgery before 11am in the correct container and with any relevant documentation. If you are unsure how to collect a sample, or require additional/replacement containers or paperwork, please contact reception on 01745 814422.

Results

If your doctor/nurse has arranged for you to have a test, we expect you to take responsibility for obtaining the results (along with the clinician's comments on the results) by telephoning the surgery on 01745 814422. Test results are available after 2.30pm, Monday - Friday (excluding bank holidays or during afternoons where the practice is closed for staff training).

To ensure confidentiality, we only release results to the patient themselves (or parents in the case of children), unless alternative arrangements have been previously agreed with the surgery.

Blood And Other Samples

Please allow at least five working days before telephoning the surgery for your result.  Complex test results may take long than this to reach the surgery, and your doctor, nurse, health care assistant or phlebotomist will let you know how long to wait before contacting us for the result.

X-Ray And Scan Results

Please allow a minimum of 7 working days before contacting the surgery for your result. Sometimes it may take longer for your result to be returned to the practice (please see above for hospital requested tests). The Clinician who is performing your X-ray/Scan should advise on how long it may take for the results to be sent back to the practice.
